Bernhardt Globemaster GMT:
Attractive Originality with Practical Functionality

To be useful, the GMT watch should have practical utility. The challenge is creating one that is aesthetically attractive and freshly original without sacrificing that. It's not often one comes along that is unique, attractive, very functional, reliable, durable and affordable. The Bernhardt Globemaster stands out among the very best GMT watches in the under-$500 class.

Summary:
  • Aesthetically pleasing to the eye
  • Freshly unique among GMT watches
  • First rate, very durable materials
    - Solid stainless steel case, bezel, crown and solid link bracelet
    - Sapphire crystal with AR coating on underside
  • Excellent execution in its construction
  • Accurate, highly reliable and durable Swiss ETA automatic movement
    - ETA 2836-2 with GMT mod (replaces day mechanism and wheel)
  • Among the best, even when compared to GMTs costing much more
  • Discontinued but can be found used on various watch forum sales postings

The company originally began as Bernhardt Instruments. They closed down very briefly during the 3rd quarter of 2007 to reorganize and start up again as Bernhardt Watch Company, and have been successfully operating since then. The Globemaster model dates back to the Bernhardt Instruments era, and was continued after the reorganization with the "Instruments" portion of the logo omitted from the dial and back. Other than logo changes reflecting the company name change, it's the same watch.
